Michael M. Zavala, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC is a Texas and New Mexico based Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focused on holistic integrative psychiatry.
I help adults experiencing obesity, anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, and burnout/moral injury rediscover their sense of excitement and engagement with work, loved ones, and life by offering a specialized approach for those motivated to uncover the root cause of their symptoms, with medication as an option, NOT the only option.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and I’m glad you’re here. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, warm environment where you feel truly heard. I believe that you are the expert on your own life; my role is to walk alongside you, offering the tools and perspective needed to navigate life’s challenges.
In our sessions, I blend empathy with evidence-based techniques to help you uncover your strengths. I specialize in helping clients manage and navigate negative emotions and unwanted compulsions. Together, we will work at your pace to build resilience and create a life that feels more aligned with your values.
Hi! I'm Carissa, and I am part of a group practice, AuDHD Practice PLLC, that works primarily with neurodivergent clients (ADHD, Autism, etc.). My aim is to provide a warm, affirming, safe space for people on the spectrum and their loved ones. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) offering mental health and counseling services.
Originally from Miami, my master’s in Clinical Psychology was a product of my understanding of how mental health can impact a person or family. These experiences shaped my career, allowing me to provide help to clients navigating difficult obstacles while implementing skills to allow them to live a happy and thriving life. I welcome challenges and don’t scare easily, having been well-versed in trauma work, and I'm here to help clients reach their goals and live better for themselves and the people they love. This world is a world of uncertainty; the only thing that is constant is change. When someone wants to change or embrace the changes they are going through, I am here to help them tackle the changes head-on.
Starting my practice in a community setting, I've worked with children, adolescents, and families across the mental health spectrum. I understand how trauma and abuse can impact a person’s livelihood, and I'm passionate about working with individuals who struggle with anger management, depression, anxiety, trauma, and recovery. I think that therapy should be a relationship based on trust and honesty, because change is hard. It can often bring about unwanted or negative feelings, and it's important that you have someone to support you and help to uplift you throughout the changes you are going through.
